Improve and Innovate
with the Tech Trends
To navigate a market like ours, it is necessary to keep up with the competition or, even better, stay one step ahead. To create innovation, it is necessary to stay on the frontier of research and experiment with new solutions that can have industrial applications. This is why we have been reinvesting a portion of our profits into research and development for many years, to maintain a high level of competitiveness within the Company.
Over the past 20 years, we have participated in numerous research and development activities, both as a service provider and as a proposer of research projects. This experience has significantly enriched our knowledge base and allowed us to develop a range of cutting-edge products, especially in the fields of logistics and decision support systems. In fact, in 2005, we were able to register a patent (System and method for controlling the transport of articles).
The Company has recently started to create products for the healthcare market, fully aware of the tough entry barriers and our own innovation capabilities. To try to enter this market, we are offering products that can be complementary to the offerings of the big players, trying to create added value for their products and services.
We are currently engaged in two research initiatives in the healthcare sector, with the objective of capitalising on our expertise and developing innovative products and services for the target market.
HEARTNETICS
HEARTNETICS is an industrial research and experimental development project, submitted under the POR Calabria FESR 2014-2020, Implementation of complex research and development projects, Line 1.2.2. Its purpose is to provide a substantial and innovative contribution to making the processes of Predictive and Personalised Medicine more effective and efficient in the clinical domain of Cardiovascular Diseases.
This general objective will be pursued through the design, development and validation of innovative and high-performance Machine Learning Models and Methods for the analysis of heterogeneous Biomedical, Clinical and Health Data, and the consequent elicitation of new and useful knowledge to support predictive and personalised assessment processes for individuals at risk of, or already diagnosed with, cardiovascular disease.
In particular, HEARTNETICS will follow a comprehensive methodological approach and consequent technological development based on the following phases:
- Exploration of the reference clinical domain;
- Research and extraction of knowledge on retrospective cases using advanced quantitative tools for descriptive and predictive analysis on large datasets;
- Representation and encoding of the extracted knowledge to support the design of informative-decisional services and applications;
- Development and implementation of services and applications, and their interfaces for use on various devices, for the predictive and personalised assessment of individuals at risk of, or already diagnosed with, cardiovascular disease;
- Testing, validation, verification and impact assessment.
HEARTNETICS will output the following products:
- A prototype "Data Fusion" platform in the Cardiovascular Disease domain, comprising a suite of advanced data analysis tools;
- A prototype platform of advanced Services/Apps, accessible on various devices, to support predictive and personalised assessments for risk analysis and clinical management of Cardiovascular Diseases.
The expected results of HEARTNETICS, in terms of impact on the healthcare system and services, can be identified as:
- Contributing to making assistance and care interventions more appropriate and, consequently, more effective in the reference domain;
- Improving quality of life indicators for patients;
- Enhancing economic and social impact indicators of Cardiovascular Diseases.
ALCMEONE
ALCMEONE is an industrial research and experimental development project, submitted under the PON Enterprises and Competitiveness FESR 2014-2020, Horizon 2020 D.M. 01/06/2016. Its purpose is to design, develop and apply an innovative Technological Service Platform to support the effective and efficient Integrated Clinical Management of Headache Patients.
In particular, ALCMEONE focuses on creating an integrated ecosystem that is highly collaborative and cooperative. Through the acquisition, integration and processing of clinical-healthcare data, information and knowledge, it provides appropriate decision-support to all stakeholders (patients and healthcare providers) within the complex care and treatment system characterizing the clinical domain of headaches and migraines. ALCMEONE aims to concretely establish innovative organizational models and clinical-healthcare processes that ensure continuity of care, integration between hospital and community care, and rationalization of expenditure
The overarching goal of the ALCMEONE project is to improve the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare services and provisions within the organized and structured context of Diagnostic Therapeutic Assistance Paths (PDTA) in the clinical domain of headaches and migraines. Among its specific objectives, significant emphasis is placed on supporting cooperative collaboration among all healthcare professionals involved, as well as between these professionals and the patient. This support extends to empowering patients in managing their own health conditions. Improving health and enhancing population well-being are strategic objectives of the Horizon 2020 community program, achievable through the definition of new organizational models for chronic disease management, often resulting from increased life expectancy. This also includes the identification and development of innovative ICT systems to support the enhancement and monitoring of continuity of care pathways.
In this perspective, the ALCMEONEproject aims to design and develop an innovative organizational model and technological platform of services. It focuses on both managing chronic patients (Chronic Care Model) and preventing, managing, and providing early treatment for socially significant diseases. Within this context, headaches represent one of the most common neurological disorders and pose a significant healthcare challenge due to their impact on work efficiency and social activities. According to the WHO, headaches rank third among disabling conditions.
